Covid-19 and Flattening the Curve: A Feedback Control Perspective

Many of the control policies that were put into place during Covid-19 pandemic had a common goal: to flatten curve number infected people so its peak remains under critical threshold. This letter considers challenge engineering strategy enforces such goal using theory. We introduce simple formulation optimal flattening problem, and provide closed form solution.This is augmented through nonlinear loop tracking nominal solution, with aim ensuring close-to-optimal performance uncertain conditions. A key contribution ofthis paper validation method extensive realistic simulations in scenario, particular focus on case Codogno - small city Northern Italy has been among most harshly hit by pandemic.
